About Masterpiece Modules
Masterpiece Modules is a division of Masterpiece Furniture. Sounds big, but this is a one man shop. I have been designing and making custom furniture for over 22 years. In the fall of 2014, a model railroader was referred to me. He was putting together a class for kids to teach them all about model railroading. Each kid would start with one module, add track and scenery and then connect the modules together to make a railroad. The kits I designed and made for them were HO scale T-trak modules with Kato track. The module components used finger joints to locate the parts accurately and also provided self-clamping with a light press fit. Shortly after the first hour of their first meeting, the kids had their modules assembled, track attached to modules, modules attached to legs and were running trains. The adult model railroaders were amazed and encouraged me to make this technology available to the module model railroading community.
I am also a model railroader. Got my first Lionel set when I was seven and had to share it with my older brother. He wanted to run as fast as he could without crashing. I wanted to add sidings and industries and operate a railroad. Sixty years later, I'm still at it. I do most of my modeling in virtual scale using Trainz software. I also do some 7-1/2" gauge railroading, toting my one locomotive and one boxcar to various tracks around the country.
